The Fall season has arrived…leaves are changing, temperatures are cooler, and pumpkins and apples are found at local markets.
Using apples in recipes is great to do any time of year but the Fall weather just seems like a great time for some apple crisp. This recipe has been a favorite – combines apples with cranberries for a special treat and is easy to make!
Cranberry Apple Crisp
1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
5 cups apples, pared, cored and sliced
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup butter
Rinse the cranberries. Layer cranberries and apples in a greased 9″ square pan, sprinkling with 1/3 cup sugar as you layer. In a bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon; cut in the butter. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apples and cranberries. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 45 minutes or until apples are tender. Serves 9.
