This past Sunday our family decided to enjoy the beautiful weather and walk along the new Northwest Lancaster County River Trail section. We stopped at the recently opened Visitors Center at Columbia Crossing which serves as the center for the 14-mile River Trail. Columbia Crossing is located in Columbia along the banks of the Susquehanna River and looks across the river to Wrightsville. Inside showcases the history of the river and the town of Columbia while outside there is a covered pavilion, picnic tables, and a boat launch. An outfitter is nearby with canoe, kayak and bike rentals. The trail allows you to walk, bike, or jog along the Susquehanna from Columbia to Falmouth, near the Dauphin County line.We walked under the Veterans Memorial Bridge, through the Point Road Tunnel blasted from the rock and entered the woods of Chickies Rock Park. This is a great family fun activity to enjoy the history of the Susquehanna and be outdoors!
