Lancaster County is full of historical sites and attractions. But not only are there places to visit, but you can also have some “hands on” activities to learn a new skill. Two local historical attractions, Landis Valley Museum and Hans Herr House, offer classes for people to take and learn some folk art classes or Pennsylvania German art. This Fall the workshops from Landis Valley include Rug Braiding, Rug Hooking, False Grain Painting, and Needle Felting among others. The Folk Art Classes offered at Hans Herr House are Natural Dyeing, Native Crafts, and Bookbinding. All of these classes and workshops are offered for a reasonable cost. What a great way to learn about the history of the Pennsylvania Dutch and German heritage while being able to take home an item you have personally made!
