Country Brunch

It was an honor to be chosen as one of the top 16 finalists from BedandBreakfast.com 2016 Recipe Contest.  Our local news had an article about voting for us.  And BedandBreakfast.com wrote about the competition, judging, etc. in this news release.

 

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time: 45 Minutes
Servings: 12-15

Ingredients:

  • 16 slices of bread
  • 2 1/2 C. cubed ham or deli ham
  • 16 oz. cheddar cheese
  • 16 oz. mozzarella cheese
  • 6 – 8 eggs
  • 3 1/2 C. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • Topping: 3 C. corn flakes
  • Topping: 1/2 C. butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Trim crusts from bread and cut into squares.

  2. Grease 9″ x 13″ baking pan and layer as follows: cover bottom of pan with half of bread, half of ham and half of each of the cheeses.

  3. Repeat layers.

  4. Combine eggs, milk and seasonings.

  5. Pour over layers and refrigerate overnight.

  6. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.

  7. Combine topping ingredients and sprinkle over casserole.

  8. Bake at 350 F. for 45 minutes.

  9. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

  1. Just to say we live in England and saw this recipe when we were looking for B&B’s for our vacation in May 2016. We served this for an Easter brunch for family and friends and it was a massive hit with most going back for a second helping. Thanks for the recipe.
